Third Thursday: Green Thumb Gathering

Enjoy after-hours exhibition access and learn how to prep your garden for summer. Join us after work every Third Thursday for special extended Museum hours from 5 to 7 p.m.! Explore the exhibitions, enjoy food and drinks in The Star Cafe, and connect to the story of Texas. Different activities are offered each month. Museum garage parking is free after 5 p.m. Our “Green Thumb Gathering” is designed to immerse you in the world of plants and gardening with workshops on growing microgreens, propagating African Violets, and summer planting tips. You can also tap into your creative side with our marble garden stone craft or enjoy the featured Lavender Mint Julep cocktail from The Star Cafe. Museum exhibition galleries will be open for exploration between 5 and 7 p.m. All activities are included in the price of exhibition admission. Onsite exhibition admission ticket sales end at 6:50 p.m. Featured Activities: Microgreens Workshop – Discover the magic of microgreens in this workshop on cultivating these nutrient-packed, miniature greens that are as flavorful as they are beautiful. Get ready to bring the freshness of microgreens to your own home, adding a burst of vitality to your meals with Zilker Botanical Garden. African Violet Workshop – Dive into the enchanting world of African Violets, renowned for their vibrant colors and delicate beauty. Gain insight into the care and propagation of these captivating plants with Zilker Botanical Garden. Summer Planting Workshop – Join Austin Community College Department of Agricultural Sciences for an exploration of heat-tolerant seeds perfect for summer planting. Craft Corner – Design a marble garden stone to add to your home garden in our Third Thursday Craft Corner with Bullock Museum staff.
