Trade Talks: Piñata Making

May 19, 2024

?? Get ready to party with this fun piñata making workshop! ?? Create your very own traditional seven-point piñata! Join local artist Adriana Gámez as she leads you in assembling and decorating a cheerful, candy-filled masterpiece! According to the Catholic doctrine of struggle and temptation, each point represents one of the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. What was once constructed around a clay pot that was meant to represent evil, piñatas are now made with a paper maché container in modern times. The fruit and candy inside symbolize the temptations of evil. Nowadays, the piñata has lost its religious significance and is used in many types of celebrations. ??? This workshop is included with general museum admission, and FREE for members. Registration is required: one piñata per person. All materials and Mexican candies are included! Pinatas measure 28” SPIKE TO SPIKE. ?? Register in advance to save your spot! Supplies are limited, so don’t wait!
