Lake Mineral Wells State Park, Mineral Wells

Cities to Visit: Mineral Wells, Texas

Just close enough, yet far enough removed to be able to enjoy peaceful solitude and unspoiled nature at its best... that's Mineral Wells! Situated in the scenic North Texas Hill Country, only 45 miles west of Fort Worth, the community is rich in history and bright with promise.

A town built on water, Mineral Wells continues to live up to its reputation... from the miraculous mineral waters of the past to three inviting lakes currently found in the country: Lake Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto Lake and Possum Kingdom Lake. These wonderful watery retreats offer the very best in swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing and scuba diving. There is the Brazos River for some exciting canoeing and tubing.

The Palo Pinto Mountains offer a panoramic backdrop for this colorful community. State parks at both Lake Mineral Wells and Possum Kingdom provide excellent opportunities for camping, birding, hiking, biking and rock climbing. The native woods and rolling hills also make the area a hunter's paradise, with deer, quail, turkey and dove.

Visit quaint antique shops, unique specialty stores and outlet shopping. The latest attraction just east of Mineral Wells is Clark Gardens, an 83-acre botanical park. Wade through a sea of rainbow-hued iris, or stroll along the flower-laden banks of a sun-dappled pond.
