Peach JAMboree and Rodeo
June 20 - 22, 2019
Settled near the flowing waters of the Pedernales River in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Stonewall is known for its peaches. Taste some for yourself, and enjoy a quintessentially Texan experience, during the annual Peach JAMboree and Rodeo.
Visit peach stands and taste the goods made in baking, preserves, and salsa competitions, and take in all the mutton bustin’ and rodeo action you can handle.
Held the third full weekend in June, the Peach JAMboree is a must-see during your next Hill Country road trip.
It all kicks off on Friday evening, when you’ll be introduced to the Peach Queen contestants, a pageantry of sequins and hometown pride seen often throughout the state. Future cowboys and cowgirls entertain as they take the arena in for the mutton bustin’ contest. Watch as skilled rodeo contestants compete in team roping, barrel racing, bull riding, and more at the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) Rodeo, then dance the night away to live music provided by Texas country music artist Josh Ward.
Don’t sleep in Saturday morning, because you’ll find a ton of free fun and delicious food during the day at the Stonewall Chamber of Commerce grounds. Wave at all the floats and catch candy at the parade (beginning at 10 a.m.). Then head to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where you can buy juicy barbecue by the pound, with sides of beans and potato salad. Kick back with your picnic and enjoy live music throughout the day, as well as a concert by the Bellamy Brothers after the rodeo.
Make sure to join in the fun with the washer pitching and dominos tournaments (two of Texans’ favorite pastimes) and take part in the peach eating and pit spitting contests. Bring home freshly-made peach treats by bidding on baked goods, homemade preserves, and salsas that were part of the contest earlier in the day. Saturday night ends with a rodeo and dance, so don’t forget your boots, cowboy hat, and denim at home.
Whether you’re more interested in the peaches or the rodeo, you won’t want to miss out on the Peach JAMboree and Rodeo.
