Things to Do in Kingsville, Texas
King Ranch, headquarters 1½ miles west of Kingsville,
was founded in 1853. King Ranch covers 825,000 acres. The only
2 registered cattle breeds developed in the United States were
founded by the ranch. Tours are available.
Downtown Kingsville area has been designated as a historical district,
with many buildings restored to authentic architecture. The district
now houses many unique shops including King Ranch Saddle Shop,
Flato Opera House and Seller's Market.
Texas A&M University began in 1925 as South Texas Teachers
College. Through preservation of its original buildings, the campus
offers a unique blend of architectural significant structures and
modern classrooms.
1904 Railroad Museum. The first train came
through Kingsville on July 4th, 1904 - the same day the city was
chartered. The depot has recently been restored and features memorabilia
and history of the role rail travel played in the making of South
Texas.
Naval Air Station Kingsville serves as one of the largest advanced
jet training centers in the United States.
Birding and Wildlife interests offer a unique opportunity in the
Kingsville area. Over 350 species of birds can be found throughout
the area.
King Ranch Museum offers a unique look at life on and the history
of the King Ranch from the early days to the present.
Baffin Bay offers water sports; fishing, boating or excellent
park facilities.
L.E. Ramey Golf Course is a favorite spot for area residents and
Winter Texans alike. Open year-round.
