The Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre Presents: MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY

Mar 08, 2024
Born in Dallas, Michael Martin Murphey was exposed to traditional cowboy songs while working on his grandfather’s ranch. He moved to Austin in 1971 and played a huge part in the progressive country movement that was taking place there. Murphey, along with Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Gary P. Nunn, led a movement that combined country and rock music. Murphey’s first album, Geronimo’s Cadillac, was a groundbreaking album on the Texas music scene. His biggest hit came in 1975 when he wrote Wildfire about his favorite horse. This will be Murphey’s third time to grace the Brauntex stage!
