Spanish Governor's Palace Hours & Admission Prices

Established in 1722 to protect the Mission San Antonio de Bejar and ward off French encroachment, the Presidio San Antonio de Bejar is still an important historic site in San Antonio. Today known as the Spanish Governor’s Palace, it was here that military captains and prominent citizens lived before the fall of the Alamo in 1836.

Restored in 1930, the palace preserves the stories of an early chapter in San Antonio’s history. Located along San Pedro Creek just a few blocks from the San Antonio River Walk, this National Historic Landmark is a must-visit attraction in downtown San Antonio.
