Over 300 rescued critters, representing 100 different species from around the world, call Austin Zoo home. This rescue zoo is located in Texas Hill Country, that’s committed to rescuing animals in need and educating visitors through daily zookeeper chats and up-close encounters with the animal ambassadors. For kids, the zoo’s school break and summer camps offer unforgettable experiences and foster a deeper appreciation for the earth’s creatures.
As you explore the zoo, you’ll see everything from big cats to toothy alligators! Make some memories of a lifetime as you feed lettuce to a giant, laidback Galapagos tortoise, or meet a friendly South American capybara. Along with seeing exotic animals, you can feed farm animals who’ve been given a second lease on life. While you’re here, hop on the Rawhide Rocket, a miniature passenger train, to enjoy the scenic countryside and view some of the other animals at the zoo.
The zoo is open year-round. To book your up-close encounter with one of the zoo’s ambassador animals, please visit the Austin Zoo’s official website. And take a look at Austin Zoo’s Facebook page for upcoming events, including holiday celebrations and birthday parties for its animal residents.
