Events in Greenville

Greenville's calendar is loaded with delightful events and festivals year-round. Several of the most popular Greenville events take place at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum, Hunt County’s memorial to the cotton industry and a hometown war hero, so it’s definitely a spot to add to your itinerary.

Military Gun Show
The Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum hosts this exhibition of guns, knives, and swords used during major wars, from the Civil War to World War II. Books, photos, clothing, reloading gear, and other items are also featured, so aficionados of military history won’t want to miss it.

Easter After Dark
Once the kids have gone to bed after a long day of hunting eggs, it’s Mom and Dad’s turn. Candy is still a prize, but so are automotive stuff, restaurant gift cards, and even cash at this bash at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum.

Hunt County Fair
In late April or early May, Greenville’s Fairgrounds host the Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show. Say hello to the “Fair Boss”- the life-sized cow statue who serves as mascot for the proceedings - on your way to all the midway, exhibits, the Kid Zone, a live music stage, and the livestock shows.

May – September
Splash Kingdom Family Waterpark
Escape the summer heat at Greenville’s Splash Kingdom Family Waterpark. The Greenville version of this popular waterpark is airplane themed to honor the town’s long history with aviation. Multiple water slides, a wave pool, lazy river, and a children’s area are all part of the park, which opens its doors in May and closes for the year in September.

June
Audie Murphy Day
An Air Force flyover kicks off this annual celebration of local and WWII hero Audie Murphy. A parade follows, along with exhibits detailing Murphy’s life and achievements, a reception, and local veteran’s roll call.

July
July 4th Community Celebration
When it comes to Independence Day, Greenville goes all out. The festivities begin with The Park Street Historical District July 4th Parade, followed by Kavanaugh United Methodist Church’s patriotic sing-along program, where everyone is welcome.  Afterward, it’s all-you-can-eat watermelon in the church parking lot. Closeout the day at Greenville SportsPark, where activities include a pie-eating contest, face painting, live music, and of course, fireworks.

Lee Street Jamboree
Visitors from all over the state turn out for this annual event that features great food, live music, a bike ride known as the Cotton Patch Challenge. It’s also one of the best Greenville events for kids, with a youth 5K, petting zoo, bounce-house, and face painting.

Bob Wills Fiddle Festival & Contest
Bows up! This multi-day pickin’ party features headliner concerts, free outdoor entertainment with well-known Western swing and country performers, as well as a seven-division fiddle contest for cash prizes.

Park Street Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides
Join this annual nighttime event in Greenville that wanders through several blocks of historic Park Street, or hop on a wagon for a leisurely horse-drawn ride as you take in the holiday lights.
