Casa Ortiz
Casa Ortiz is a meticulously restored Spanish colonial home built between 1829 and 1830 that is located in downtown Laredo. Stroll in the home’s beautiful gardens and enjoy a spectacular view of the Rio Grande River at Casa Ortiz, which is used by Texas A&M International University for meetings, events, and tours. The home is open Monday through Friday throughout the year, and admission is free.

Helen Richter Watson Art Gallery
Helen Richter Watson was a world-renowned ceramics artist who grew up and began honing her craft in Laredo. Today, many of her impressive works are displayed at the Helen Richter Watson Gallery on the campus of Texas A&M International University. The gallery is open by appointment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
Experience the mesmerizing beauty of the Rio Grande Valley at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park in Laredo. Go fishing, explore a scenic nature trail on foot or by mountain bike, bring your camera to photograph some birds, or cool down in the cool water of the lake. Laredo Center for the Arts
The Laredo Center for the Arts is community-focused art facility housed within the town’s former city hall, an eclectic structure built in the 1880’s. A wide variety of art, much of which is created by local artists, is featured in the center’s two art galleries. The arts center, open Tuesday through Saturday, is located within the Laredo Historic District.

Laredo Energy Arena
Sporting events, bigtime concerts, and other types of shows can be found at the Laredo Energy Arena, a nearly 10,000-seat venue on the east side of town. The Laredo Swarm, an American Basketball Association team, play their games at the arena from January through November. A full calendar of events can be found on the arena’s website.

Laredo Heat Soccer Club
The Laredo Heat is a successful U.S.L. Premier Developmental League team that faces off against other clubs across the nation at the Texas A&M International University Soccer Complex. Regular-season Laredo Heat matches start in early May and end in late July. Tickets are available on match day at the stadium, and a full schedule is available on the team’s website.

The Laredo Theater Guild International is a community-based theater organization that produces top-class musicals and plays that includes everything from Shakespeare to Shrek, The Musical. Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course

Play a round at the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course, a place the Dallas Morning News called the “Best New Course in Texas” in 2014. This 18-hole, par-72 course sits on 270 acres of rugged land close to the U.S. and Mexican border. The layout and abundance of sand traps and water hazards creates an enthralling and challenging playing experience for golfers of all skill levels, while the 9,000-squre-foot clubhouse is a convenient spot to get a drink after a few hours in the South Texas sun.

Republic of the Rio Grande Museum

They say that six flags flew over Texas, but not so in Laredo. The town was once the capital of the Republic of the Rio Grande, which was made up of three Mexican states that sought to secede from Mexico in 1840. Although the revolution fell apart within one year, Laredo still flies the flag of the failed republic as its city flag. This time in Laredo’s history is remembered at the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum, located in a historic building in downtown Laredo. The museum features displays of photographs, rifles, and housewares that were common in the 1830’s.

San Agustin Catholic Cathedral

San Agustin Catholic Cathedral is a stunning Gothic Revival structure built in 1872 that is today one of Laredo’s most prominent historic buildings. The cathedral faces the San Augustin Plaza, a public square flanked by shops and restaurants that dates back to 1767.

Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum

Discover the fascinating story of Laredo’s history, culture, and people at the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum.
