Created in 1943, the 5307th Composite Unit (nicknamed Merrill’s Marauders, after their commander) took to the jungles of Burma to fight the Japanese far behind the front line. An early special operations unit, Merrill’s Marauders engaged in jungle warfare, raiding, recon, and other long-range operations deep in enemy territory. Learn more about these daring soldiers, their gear, and the type of men to take up such a dangerous task. Join us at the Pacific Combat Zone on Austin Street at 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. The Outposts are free and open to the public, there is no need for a ticket!
