Galveston Naval Museum in Galveston Hours and Ticket Prices

The Galveston Naval Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich naval history of the United States. Located at Seawolf Park in Galveston, Texas, the museum houses a collection of historically significant warfighting vessels and artifacts. The Galveston Naval Museum proudly features the USS Cavalla (SS-244) and the USS Stewart (DE-238), a unique pair of warfighting vessels named Predator and Protector. These meticulously restored vessels offer visitors a captivating glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of naval warfare during World War II. Additionally, the museum showcases the sail of the USS Tautog (SSN-639) and the conning tower of the USS Carp (SS-338), both representing important milestones in submarine technology and the dedication of brave submariners.

Sleepovers

Embark on an overnight adventure aboard authentic U.S. Navy vessels that served during World War II and beyond. Sleep aboard the USS Stewart (DE-238), explore both the USS Stewart and USS Cavalla (SS-244) through guided tours, enjoy educational activities, and experience life aboard historic naval ships. Learn how the USS Cavalla, a Gato-class submarine, sank the Japanese aircraft carrier Shokaku during World War II, and discover the history of the USS Stewart, the only remaining Edsall-class Destroyer Escort in the United States. Sleepover packages with and without meals are available.

Hardhat Tours

Take a guided tour of the engine and machinery spaces aboard the USS Stewart (DE-238), including areas that are normally closed to the public. Learn how Destroyer Escorts operated during World War II while exploring the ship's inner workings and the conditions sailors experienced at sea.

Note: Hardhat Tours are temporarily closed for the season due to heat and are scheduled to reopen in October 2026. Tours are typically offered Wednesday through Sunday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, require advance reservations, are available for ages 14 and older, and cost $45 per person.
