History's alive at one of the last cotton gins operating in America, powered by 1925 Bessemer engine! Recognized by Smithsonian Institution, National Trust for Historic Preservation, National Register of Historic Places. Complex includes 1914 gin, cobbler shop, garage, warehouse, Visitor Center and Gift Shop. View video of volunteers operating gin and/or arrange for a tour.

Monastery of St. Clare Miniature Horse Farm

Franciscan Poor Clare nuns support themselves by raising miniature horses and selling their handmade ceramics. Pet the horses, shop in the Art Barn, paint your own souvenir or spend a few quiet moments in the Chapel.
Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site

This historic site is located on the original town site of Washington where Texas declared independence from Mexico March 2, 1836, and which served as the capital of the Republic of Texas. The complex includes a state-of-the-art Visitor Center, a replica of Independence Hall, Star of the Republic Museum and the Barrington Living History Farm.
