King Ranch, headquarters 1½ miles west of Kingsville, was founded in 1853. King Ranch covers 825,000 acres. The only 2 registered cattle breeds developed in the United States were founded by the ranch. Tours are available.
Downtown Kingsville area has been designated as a historical district, with many buildings restored to authentic architecture. The district now houses many unique shops including King Ranch Saddle Shop, Flato Opera House and Seller's Market.
Texas A&M University began in 1925 as South Texas Teachers College. Through preservation of its original buildings, the campus offers a unique blend of architectural significant structures and modern classrooms.
