What to do in Mansfield, Texas
Outdoor life is a staple of Texan living, and Mansfield is no exception. Mansfield has an award-winning park system, which includes more than 500 acres, 11 parks and Mansfield National Golf Course. Construction has already begun on a 10-mile
linear park that will run from the west side of the city to Joe Pool Lake. The linear park will include an amphitheater, pavilions, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as walking and jogging trails. In addition to the well-maintained parks system, there is also the Mansfield Activity Center, which offers programs for pre-K to senior citizens including arts and crafts, gymnastics, music lessons and much more.
Mansfield is located near one of the most popular lakes in the Metroplex, Joe Pool Lake. Built and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the lake is surrounded by campgrounds, picnic areas, boat launching ramps and marinas. Joe Pool Lake is also a favorite among sailors, water skiers and area fishermen. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission regularly stocks it with bass, crappie, and catfish.
The Dallas/Fort Worth area is known for its golf courses. Numerous courses within a 30-minute drive provide an enjoyable challenge for the novice to the pro. The Walnut Creek Country Club, a private course with 36 holes, and the Mansfield National golf course, a public course with 18 holes, are located right in
