Balcones Heights Jazz Festival

There’s something magical about the sweet and soulful sounds of jazz, especially when you get to watch the musicians perform live.  That’s exactly what you can do during the Balcones Heights Jazz Festival, which has brought thousands of spectators to the Wonderland of the Americas Amphitheater for a quarter of a century. Select Friday evenings each July (rain or shine), award-winning jazz musicians from across the country put on an unforgettable show under the Texas stars.

Grab a blanket or lawn chair and head out to the amphitheater early, as this is a popular annual event and outdoor seating is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Spread a quilt on the lawn that overlooks the water and come hungry because there will be plenty of food and drink booths at the festival. Each Friday’s opening act begins at 7:30 p.m. and the headliner takes the stage at 9 p.m.

Past performers at the Balcones Heights Jazz Festival include trumpeter Rick Braun, Slim Man (who has twice been named Best Jazz Vocalist at the Coachella Music Awards), and Eric Darius (who has shared the stage with world-renowned artists including Prince, Mary J. Blige, David Foster, Carlos Santana, and Babyface).
