Every Fourth of July, the Giddings Volunteer Fire Department hosts the annual July 4th Fireman’s Celebration with a barbecue, antique carousel rides and a fireworks show in the evening.

September

Annual Wendish Fest
Head to Giddings on the fourth Sunday in September for a full immersion in the Wendish traditions and to tour the St. Paul Lutheran painted church and the Wendish Museum at the Annual Wendish Fest. Watch demonstrations on painting the decorative Wendish Easter eggs and making noodles, sauerkraut, and sausage, enjoy the coffee cake bake-off and other competitions, and check out the classic cars and farm equipment.

October

Dime Box Black Bridge Festival and Mini Marathon
The Dime Box Black Bridge Festival is a fun celebration that includes a chili and hot dog supper, a 42 tournament, Little Miss and Mr. Black Bridge contest, and street dance on Friday. Next, the mini marathon, BBQ cookoff, parade, crafts, classic cars, music and a quilt display on the first Saturday each October. Proceeds benefit the Dime Box Lions Club and Black Bridge Park.

Merry Marketplace Arts & Crafts Fair
Get your holiday shopping done early at the Merry Marketplace Arts & Crafts Fair in Giddings on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, where you’ll find unique handmade pieces to suite all styles. There will be jewelry, woodworking, handicrafts, sewing & crochet, candles, oils and some specialty foods. Door prizes are handed out throughout the day. Word has it Santa just may make an appearance to say hello to the children!

Lights of Tejas
