Attractions in Lampasas 

If you were to construct the perfect day in the Texas Hill Country, it might go something like this: 18 holes of golf followed by a dip in a refreshing, spring-fed pool. Colorado Bend State Park

Colorado Bend State Park, one of Texas’ most picturesque outdoor areas, resides just a short drive west of Lampasas near the town of Bend. Hiking, biking, caving, swimming, fishing, birding, and wildlife viewing are all things you can do here. If you’re too tired to make the trip back to Lampasas, hang your hat for the night in one of the park’s campsites.

Cooper Spring Nature Park

Go birding, chase butterflies, and walk the nature trails at Cooper Spring Nature Park, which occupies more than 25 acres in downtown Lampasas. Local volunteers have spent hundreds of hours clearing brush and planting more than 20 different species of native grasses and seeding wildflowers to create this lovely oasis for visitors and residents alike to freely enjoy.

Fiesta Winery

The Baxter family supplies their Fredericksburg and San Antonio locations from this vineyard on the ranch they’ve owned for six generations. The tasting room, located about 20 miles west of Lampasas, is open seven days a week and is available for rental Thursday through Sunday.

Hancock Park

This city park is the site of the famous Hancock Pool, the only remaining sulphur spring swimming hole in the state. The park also sports an 18-hole golf course, a picnic area, and a playground. There is a small admission fee for the pool, which is only open during the summer.

Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden

A beautiful winged pegasus and a beat-up old Chevy hauling a giant catfish on its back are just two of the permanent sculptures on display at this gem in Campbell Park. The garden continually adds unique sculptures, so there’s always something new to see.

Keystone Square Museum
Now located in a former sheet metal shop, the Keystone Square Museum displays artifacts and collectibles related to frontier saloons, the Texas Rangers, Native American tribes, and local farmers and ranchers from Lampasas County. The museum has no admission fee, but donations are welcome. Open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment.

Lampasas County Courthouse

Built in 1884, the Lampasas courthouse building is one of the oldest courthouses in Texas that is still in use, as well as one of the most serene tourist spots in town. The grounds make a perfect backdrop for a family photo, and on the third floor you can view the clockworks and check out a photographic history of the area.

Storm’s Drive-In
