Texas City is like the person who has it all—brains, looks, and charm. Take in its gorgeous setting, enjoy its fabulous attractions and get to know its warm and friendly people.
Get Inspired by the Local Arts and Culture Scene
From public sculpture to a juried annual art festival, Texas City is a community that appreciates local art. The city is known for its more than 50 locally commissioned bronze statues found in various locations throughout the city. Many of the statues depict ordinary people enjoying life, while others show native fauna. Get a sense of the area’s past by viewing its historic homes located in Heritage Square Park on 3rd Avenue. Tour the juried annual Texas City Art Festival where original works by local artists compete for top honors. Enjoy a downtown Art Walk, in which artists display their work outdoors.
Spend the Day Shopping and Dining
Texas City is a great place to shop and dine, with locally owned antique stores like Urban Gypsies on 6th Street and the expansive Tanger Outlets Houston, located on Gulf Freeway in Texas City. The upscale outlet mall features more than 90 stores and eateries to fit every preference. After a day of shopping, head out to one of Texas City’s great local restaurants, including Terraza Mexican Bar and Grill where you can enjoy a fresh margarita and a taste of Tex-Mex, or Grand Prize Barbecue, home to mouthwatering smoked brisket and tempting sides.
Get Wet!
Enjoying the water and having some fun in the sun is a big part of the Texas City visitor’s experience. The 5.3-mile Texas City Dike reaching into Galveston Bay makes it easy to enjoy the bay’s beautiful blue waters. Into extreme water sports? Take advantage of numerous outfitters nearby to take you parasailing and jet skiing. Take the little ones to Nessler Family Aquatics Center and enjoy cool splash pads and water slides. Plan a visit to Texas City’s Lago Mar resort and community, home to a 12-acre crystal clear lagoon, the largest in Texas, complete with white sand beaches and outdoor dining.
