LPGA Tour Event Held in The Colony
October 2-8, 2023
Watch the world's best female golfers compete in the annual LPGA Volunteers of America Classic. This is a weeklong event in Dallas that attracts golf's finest female athletes from across the globe. In addition to being the only LPGA Tour event in Texas, the event offers engaging family activities.
Taking place September 26 through October 2, 2022, fans will experience mild Texas temperatures as they watch world-class golfers from viewing decks located along the award-winning golf courses at The Tribute.
Nearly 150 of the sport's most talented female players compete in the VOA golf classic for a $1.5 million prize and bragging rights. Texas professional golfers have long been attracted to the tournament, which is played at the award-winning Golf Club at The Tribute. Former champions from Texas include Jin Young Ko (2021), Angela Stanford (2020) and Cheyenne Knight (2019).
About the Host Club
The conditions are exceptional due to the tournament taking place on a secluded peninsula at the north end of The Colony. Two golf courses, Old American Golf Club and The Tribute Golf Links, both create playing conditions that are a tribute to the game's purest form. The Old American Golf Club is reminiscent of the "Golden Age" of American course architecture, while Tribute Golf Links is reminiscent of the top courses in Scotland, the birthplace of golf.
In addition to being a golf tournament, the LPGA Volunteers of America Classic also features a number of other events. An enjoyable day at the links includes a fun run, shopping, a culinary experience, and outdoor activities.
With 23 miles of shoreline on Lewisville Lake, The Colony has a lot to offer outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Spend some time fishing or skiing, hiking or biking through pristine trails along the lake or taking a walk through the parks.
Children will have a difficult time choosing among the many family fun activities available at The Colony. The city offers a variety of activities for all ages, from go-karts to outdoor water parks. Whether it is raining or shining, kids will stay happy and entertained with laser tag, bowling, educational programs, and video arcades.
The Colony also has a thriving culinary scene. The community's many restaurants offer fine dining, global cuisine, and authentic local cuisine. You will find cozy sidewalk cafes, charming chef-driven concepts, and downhome goodness here. Take advantage of the many clubs and bars that line the entertainment district to continue the fun after hours.
Fans do not have to wait until the Volunteers of America Classic to participate in the excitement. A number of related activities take place in the weeks leading up to the event.
Junior golfers have the opportunity to improve their skills with tips from LPGA professionals during the summertime Junior Golf Clinic, which offers tips and inspiration from LPGA players.
Attend The Colony's annual Family Yoga event, which is also held over the summer, and you will receive free tickets to the golf classic. With mindful stretching and breathing, parents and children enjoy a break from the routine. Guests can also obtain free tickets to the classic by attending the Colony Community Concert that will be held at the Golf Clubs at The Tribute, an energetic, live music event.
As a part of the Women's Leadership Summit, which is also held during the summer, top leaders present keynote talks and participate in a panel discussion on empowering women. The event's headliner in 2021 was soccer legend Brandi Chastain.
