Leander
In the 1880s the town of Leander was established as the railroad came through Texas. Along with the railroad came new businesses and homes along the track. Leander was officially incorporated many years later. Today, riding on a historic train is a unique experience that you can participate in. The signature ride, the Hill Country Flyer, allows you time to explore vintage train cars, historically restored for your enjoyment! Onboard the train, you will wind through the Texas Hill Country, crossing the trestle bridge over the South San Gabriel River and Short Creek Canyon.
You can also hike down and discover dinosaur tracks in the San Gabriel river bed, or take a trip on the Trail of Trains – a collection of artist-inspired trains on display at various businesses throughout Leander. Small-town festivals and one-of-a-kind events offer a little fun for everyone.
