Baytown Nature Center
If it’s some time in the great outdoors you’re after, head on over to the Baytown Nature Center. Spread across a 450-acre peninsula surrounded by three bays, the park provides an easy escape for fishing, picnicking, and hiking. A prime location on the Great Texas Coastal Trail, the nature center is home to as many as 300 species of birds that either nest, migrate, or reside full-time in the area. Don’t miss the Crystal Bay Butterfly Garden, the Myra C. Brown Bird Sanctuary, and the Children’s Nature Discovery Area that features exhibits that explain the flora and fauna of the area.

Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center (WERC)
The Texas Gulf Coast’s wetlands are full of a stunning array of wildlife, much of which you can learn about at this education and recreation center. Meander through a 900-square-foot exhibit hall that contains a variety of displays and hands-on activities. Staff-led and self-guided tours are offered Monday through Saturday.

Lynchburg Ferry

Visitor Information Center
See the newly renovated Visitor Information Center in the historic Brunson Theater. In 1949, the beautiful movie palace known as the Brunson Theater opened its doors to the public for the first time, marking itself as the heart of Baytown’s historic Texas Avenue. The theater is now the home of the Baytown Visitor Information Center and boasts a modern design with a host of features that pay homage to the past.
