Shallow Sport Owners Tournament
What began as a few of local fishing guides from South Padre Island has grown into one of America’s largest saltwater owners fishing tournaments. Experience three days of fun and sun while guided, non-guided, and youth compete for a variety of prizes and trophies. There’s even a raffle to win a 22-foot Shallow Sport boat!

Sand Castle Days
An annual family-friendly has grown from a local celebration to a qualifying event for the World Championships of Sand Sculpting. Admission is free and in addition to seeing amazing sand creations and learning the importance of coastal preservation, you can enjoy live music, art booths, and great food!

SPI Muzicians Run
The South Padre Island Muzicians 5K/10K Run makes running fun by infusing the course with LIVE Mariachis along the course about every half mile. After the run, participants are rewarded with tacos, beer & margaritas. Even though this is a timed event, it's a FUN RUN and you’ll see a variety of themed costumes from mariachi and luchador outfits to tequila bandito outfits and piñata costumes!

The Holiday Light Show
From mid-November to mid-January, gaze at the spectacle of festive lights synchronized with holiday music for a cheerful, memorable experience to start the yuletide season. As you enter the Entertainment District, the lighted trees will lead you toward the light show. Be sure to take pictures alongside the festive decorations throughout the area!

Christmas on South Padre Island
Head to South Padre for a 4-day weekend of holiday fun and a magical start to the holiday - on the coast! Starting on Thursday, experience the island’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony followed by a musical presentation.

On Friday, get into the festive spirit with the annual Christmas Street Parade. Grab a beach chair and cheer with the crowd as you watch decorated, lighted floats and merry groups pass by, spreading Christmas joy.

The Lighted Boat Parade held on the following day is a dazzling procession of boats in all sizes as they cruise by adorned in lights, trimmings, and décor. Viewing areas will be set aside along the route for public viewing. Nearby at The Green, Winter Wonderland brings even more holiday enchantment. The whole family can enjoy this festive experience that features snow machines, bouncy houses, train rides, music, and of course – lots of lights!

Finally, spend your Sunday morning with Santa! Families are welcome to come together for this complimentary event at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. Enjoy a delicious breakfast alongside the season's special guest. Children can meet with Santa, take photos, and tell him their dreams and wishes for the holiday.
