Dogie Days
Make plans to be in town for the annual Dogie Days in Dumas, hosted by one of the largest Lions Clubs in the country. This tradition began in 1946 and has evolved into a multi-day celebration with a carnival, food booths, a town barbecue, and a parade. A new vehicle is raffled on the midway Saturday night. Held the second Wednesday through Saturday in June.

July

4th of July World Championship Mud Volleyball Tournament
Celebrate Independence Day in a new way at the 4th of July World Championship Mud Volleyball Tournament in Dumas. Gather a team and enjoy a day splashing around in the mud in this elimination-style tournament with cash prizes awarded to the top teams. Of course, there will be food, drinks and an epic fireworks show in the evening.

D'Town BBQ Cook-Off
Every year, up to 40 meat-smoking teams gather at McDade Park for the Annual Dumas/Moore County Chamber of Commerce D'Town BBQ Cook-Off. This Texas barbecue cook-off is IBCA-sanctioned and recognized by the state and supports a local nonprofit. Taste a wide variety of meats including brisket, ribs, chicken, pork shoulder and butt, and cast your vote for the People’s Choice awards. Let your young ones compete in the Kids Q, too!

Cowboy Classic Rodeo
Enjoy an iconic Texas night at this annual rodeo held at the Moore County Rodeo Arena. Watch professional riders from near and far compete in competitions like barrel racing, team roping, and bronc riding during the two-night rodeo event. There will also be rodeo queen contest, rodeo clowns, and a ton of fun for the kids.

Texas Tumbleweed 100
Take in beautiful Texas Panhandle views as you ride the annual Texas Tumbleweed 100 bike ride. Choose one of four routes, ranging from 12 to 100 miles, and enjoy delicious barbecue as you cross the finish line.

Museum Day at the Window on the Plains Museum

Candy Cane Lane
Kick off the holiday season at the annual Candy Cane Lane celebration at the Moore County Courthouse. Arts and crafts, food, wagon rides, performances by local choirs and bands, and holiday-themed lighted displays alongside Santa’s House are all part of the fun. Get your picture taken with Kris Kringle himself and then cheer him on as he throws the switch to light up the town with cheer that lasts all season long.

Christmas Open House at Window on the Plains Museum
Let the holiday cheer take over at the Window on the Plains Museum’s annual Christmas Open House. Celebrate with free refreshments and entertainment alongside the show and sale. Santa Claus himself visits the party to take photos with the children.
