Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, located 14 miles from downtown, is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful places in Texas. The centerpiece of the area is a 425-foot-tall pink granite dome, the largest of its kind in the United States. Climbing to the summit affords spectacular views of the Texas Hill Country. Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm
Step back in time and see what life was like on the frontier for a Texas-German family in the Hill Country at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm. Reenactors dressed in period clothing tend to farm animals, gather eggs, and perform other chores as they were done in the late 19th century. The farm is located within the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site and is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

National Museum of the Pacific War

Old Tunnel State Park
Old Tunnel State Park features an abandoned railroad tunnel that offers some of the best bat viewing in Texas. From May through October, more than three million Mexican free-tailed bats, as well as about 3,000 cave myotis bats, live within the tunnel. At dusk, these bats soar out from the tunnel to feed, a spectacular sight that can be observed from the park's viewing area. The park also has numerous hiking trails that offer great bird watching and wildlife viewing.
