4 Latest and Greatest Additions to Frisco's Entertainment Lineup
By Hunter Lanier
As if Frisco didn’t have enough to do already, the city is always growing with new additions to its flourishing entertainment lineup. In addition to furthering its exciting legacy as Sports City USA, the city has introduced some trendy new spots to unwind at before—and after—gametime.
No matter if you’ve never made the trip to Frisco or just need a reason to return, you’re going to want to check out the latest and greatest additions to Frisco’s already impressive entertainment options.
Kaleidoscope Park
Kaleidoscope Park is the perfect example of how sports are only the tip of the iceberg in Frisco. This outdoor beauty is six acres of public art, innovative architecture, and elegant gardens. But Kaleidoscope Park isn’t just a pretty face. There are even outdoor workspaces for when that shadowy bedroom just won’t cut it for writing the great American novel.
Bring the kids for a day of fun at the play area, complete with massive slides, rope tunnels, climbing areas, a splash pad, and much more. Even the dogs can get in on the fun at the dog park or get some exercise on one of the many scenic walkways.
But the centerpiece of Kaleidoscope Park is the Butterfly Rest Stop. Designed by famous artist, Janet Echelman, this piece is one of the biggest outdoor public art installations in the entire state. At over 3,000 pounds, the fabric sculpture hangs high over the park and even changes color depending on the sun.
HALL Park Hotel
When you’re on vacation, your hotel should be more than just a bed and a TV. It should be part of the vacation—a place you look forward to returning to at the end of the day. With its full kitchenettes, views of Kaleidoscope Park, and exhibition-style Italian restaurant, the HALL Park Hotel is inclined to agree.
Rejuvenate body and soul at the outdoor pool on the seventh floor that overlooks Kaleidoscope Park. It even has its very own poolside bar with cocktails and snacks. If you don’t want to break all those good habits, pay a visit to the hotel’s fitness center that provides 2,000 square feet of modern machines and equipment.
At the risk of burying the lede, the HALL Park Hotel is a pet-friendly establishment. With Kaleidoscope Park so close by, it’s the perfect place for dogs to have some fun if they’ve already made their way through the room’s minibar.
Dallas Open
At the beginning of February, Frisco’s Ford Center will host the Dallas Open. For the first time ever, the Dallas Open is a 500-level ATP tournament. Pro players will compete to take home around $2.8 million in prize money. Think of all the cocktails you could buy at the HALL Park Hotel’s poolside bar with that!
If you’re wondering how to fit the Dallas Open into your schedule, it spans nine days with the finals taking place on February 9th. A number of ticket packages are available, with the options of buying for single days or the Weekend Plan that only includes the final three days of the tournament.
The biggest tennis fans will want to opt for the courtside boxes, which not only get you the best seat in the house, but also the best food. For a truly lavish experience, however, you’ll want to go with one of the 40 Love Suites. The suites come with private bathrooms, player meet-and-greets, and all-inclusive dining.
PGA Frisco
Another exciting addition to Frisco’s status as Sports City USA is PGA Frisco. Golfers will be in paradise with the two championship courses, Fields Ranch East and Fields Ranch West. Each offers a unique style of play, with the East having smaller greens and a more natural aesthetic, while the West has notable elevation changes and fast greens. For quicker games, swing by The Swing, a 10-hole Par 3 course, or The Dance Floor, a lighted 36-hole putting course.
But you don’t have to be a golf fan to enjoy PGA Frisco. In the entertainment district, you’ll find restaurants that range from ice cream shops to elegant steakhouses. The wide range of shopping options include golf merch, of course, but there’s also a western boutique and a toy store, among others.
If you’d rather keep all your driving in Frisco relegated to a golf cart, the 500-room Omni PGA Frisco Resort is located right next to the courses. With a feature-rich spa, two heated outdoor pools, and onsite coffee shop, you could never leave the hotel and still have a memorable vacation.
Frisco Gets Bigger and Better Every Year
Texas has been flourishing in the last few years and Frisco is one of the brightest flowers in the field. Long known for its thriving sports scene, the Dallas Open and PGA Frisco have only further cemented the title of Sports City USA. What’s more, Kaleidoscope Park and HALL Park Hotel provide state-of-the-art amenities for rest and relaxation.
But the HALL Park Hotel and the Omni Resort aren’t the only hotels Frisco has to offer. Whatever your specific needs and wants, Frisco has a wide variety of overnight accommodations for you to choose from.
